Giving you another snippet from my just released book If You Can’t Take The Heat, the 2nd book in my M/M Steel Door BDSM Romance series. It’s also part of the Dallas Fire & Rescue Kindle World. Check it out 🙂
“Okay, I’m out of here,” Jamie called.
Austin looked over his shoulder and grinned. “Have a good date.”
She winked. “I hope so. Seventh first date this month. Of course, I don’t have to ask about your guy. From your glow, you must still be hot and heavy?”
Grinning from ear to ear, he nodded. Hot and heavy definitely described the previous weekend. Conrad was both a dominant man and a caring boyfriend. And when he went into dom mode, Austin got hard every single time. “Pretty much. With the case he’s working on, we won’t see each other again until Friday, but he sends me the odd text every once in a while.”
And insisted he text him hourly. From the moment he woke up until he put his head down on the pillow at night. Of course, then the bastard usually sent him a pic of his engorged cock and then he couldn’t sleep at all until he took care of his hard-on.
She fanned herself. “Dating a sexy FBI man. You have got to bring him here someday so we can meet him. Well…” She shook her head. “Nobody else needs to see him, but I do. He sounds drool worthy.”
“He is,” he agreed, making her laugh. “Now go enjoy your date. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“All right, chef.” She waved and trotted out the door, closing it behind her.
The silence in the kitchen made him slightly edgy, but he ignored it as he turned on his computer and sat down to put in his notes as well as input the information for the new accounts he added that week. As most of his accounts went, word of mouth was his best way to get new clients. The way his company was growing, soon he would need to expand to a larger kitchen space. And add in more help.
It was exciting and terrifying all at once. Double the kitchen space would be stressful and the monetary output enormous. He was already just making ends meet. If he could be sure they would keep increasing in clientele, he would do it. And in six weeks, his current lease was up. It didn’t give him a tremendous amount of time to make a decision.
His phone buzzed and he pulled it out, smiling at the image that filled the screen. It was of Conrad’s hand holding a pencil. Dork, he texted back.
Conrad: Dork? Are you looking for a spanking?
Austin: From you? Always, Conrad.
Conrad: I like the way you think. Hey. My mind is officially mush. I’ll have to come back here later, but how about going to dinner tonight? Got time?
Austin would always have time for that. Yes. Should I meet you somewhere?
They set a time and place and while Conrad logged off to finish up some paperwork, Austin put the last information into his computer and shut it down. There would be no time to go shower before meeting him. He would just have to reek of food.
He did his final check, something he did at the end of every work day. He checked the outlets, the power, and that everything was put back where it belonged. Then Austin set the alarm and closed and locked the door behind him. The small parking lot was empty except for his car and as he walked toward it, a large messenger bag in his hands, the hairs on the back of his neck went up. Whereas usually he would turn around, with the threat of a serial killer on the loose, he hightailed it to his car and got in as fast as he could, locking the doors behind him.
Austin Reynolds always wanted to be a firefighter but an accident when he was 18 killed that dream. Life as a chef, creating wonderful spicy food, fills that void. His monthly visits to feed the hungry firefighters and paramedics of Station 58 help as well. On one of those visits, he meets someone and is instantly attracted.
FBI agent Conrad “Rad” Strauss is on the hunt for a serial killer who tortures and then burns his victims alive. While he rarely finds time for activities outside of work, the need to fulfill the Dom side of him takes him to a BDSM club where he and Austin find they have more than firefighting in common.
As their attraction heats up, so does the pressure from the killer known as The Artist. For he has his eyes on Austin and unless Conrad can stop him, his lover is about to go up in flames.
