New Challenge – to write the best novel I’ve ever written

I’ve been self-pubbing and been published by small epubs for several years now. I’ve been caught up in the game of “get as many books out there as you can or people will forget your name” game and this is not what I ever wanted. I’ve dreamed of being an author my entire life, since the first day I penned my first story when I was 6 or 7. The kind of author who can spend a full year researching and writing a book and another year rewriting it before they have to put it out to editors. The kind of author whose books hold such depth that the characters stay with you for years to come.

When you write as fast as we do, you don’t get the depth out of it that really good books – the kinds people are reading a century later – have. And that’s the kind of book I want to write. Always have. So while I usually challenge myself in a timeframe with # of words, I’m doing something different. This challenge will last a lot longer, too.

So while I write smaller, quicker books to be published, I will also be spending the next few months outlining and researching for a new novel. This won’t be easy for me as I don’t write that way. But I’ll see what I can do. Because I don’t want to be just a ‘blah’ writer whose  book you love today but forget tomorrow.

I want to write books that grab hold of my readers where they never want to put it down again. That’s my goal.

Wish me luck!
