My Sexy Saturday Page Header 3

Welcome to another week of My Sexy Saturday snippets. Weekends are busy with bloghops so I usually get tired before I do this one, but this week I have persevered. Who doesn’t love a historical mixed with paranormal? In my book Through the Library Door, Landria finds a portal inside a library that transports her into the pages of one of the books it contains. As if that isn’t freaky enough, an 18th century character follows her back into the real world.

She jumped backward, only to hit the door. She knew she should shut the door and run away, but she could not. Instead she watched in disbelief as the little door opened all the way and the intense green eyes of Lord Nicholas Waring appeared and then his entire body came through the door. As he did so, the books seemed to disappear from where they had been and reappear on the shelves in the same instant. He glanced around the room frowning and then back at her.

“Where did you go?” he asked firmly. “And where is the furniture that was here?“ He stood at his full height and she opened her mouth several times to say something, but could not. After she gaped at him for a few seconds, he let his eyes wander over her. His grim expression turned annoyed. “And what horrible thing are you wearing?”

Glancing down, Landria blushed. She was wearing a cotton cartoon pajama set. It wasn’t sexy or cute. In fact, it was several years old and had several holes and tears, but it was comfortable so she continued to wear it. It was embarrassing to be caught in it by him, though. Realizing she would need to explain, she fidgeted back and forth. “Well, Nicholas, you see…” She stopped talking as his eyebrows rose.

“Nicholas? At what point did we become close enough that I allowed you to use my Christian name?” he asked coldly. “I do not even know how you knew it. How did you come to know my name?”

Chuckling nervously, she nodded. “Yeah, Lord Waring, Earl of something-or-other. Look, none of that means anything to me, okay? Because you are nothing but a character in a book.”

He continued to stare at her. “A character,” he said smoothly, taking a step closer to her as he gazed around the room. “I must say, I did wonder how the room went from pristine clean to full of dust. Not to mention my missing furniture. But I am sure you will explain all of it, won’t you, Landria?”

Her name in his voice had to be the most exciting thing she had ever heard and memories of some of the more lurid dreams she had lately came back to her, turning her cheeks a bright pink. One of his eyebrows raised and his lips twitched. His expression went from cold to amused in the length of a breath. “I pegged you as not a prostitute. Maybe I was wrong?”

Through the Library Door

2nd Edition

“Deep within the library there are secrets untold, hidden within the pages of the books it protects. Some say it is old magic, some say it is a curse, but they all say that once a generation, the door will open and the one who enters will live out the story in one of its novels.”

18 yr old Landria expects to spend a dull summer at her aunt and uncle’s house. That is until she stumbles upon a dusty, unused library and finds her way into the pages of an erotic novel. Attacked within moments of entering the story, she is rescued by the hero, Lord Nicholas Waring, who intrigues her more than she wishes. Once she finds herself back home she cannot forget him. When he follows her into her world and they fall in love, will they be forced apart by the words already written or can they rewrite their story?
