Welcome to the Spotlight – Crystal’s Many Reviewers

This week, I’m spotlighting Crystal’s Many Reviewers. Welcome CMR 🙂

Tell me a little about your blog – when did it start, why did you start it, how did you come up with the name? (Feel free to say anything and everything!)

CMRad1bCrystal’s Many Reviewers started back on March 23rd, 2013 when an author, Joanne Clancy, messaged Crystal on Goodreads and asked if she would review her book. After that, on March 27th, 2013, the blog (then called Crystal’s Many Reviews) officially started.

In June 2013, Sara Squared joined the blog, and we officially became known as Crystal’s Many Reviewers. (Much to Sara’s disappointment because she wanted it called Stabbed by a Unicorn.) Since then, we have had our fair share of reviewers who have joined the blog – some have stayed on years later, and some have left the blog for different reasons.

How many books do you think you’ve read since you joined Crystal’s Many Reviewers?
Crystal – According to the blog, 739 books.
Sara – At least 300
Angela – Just over 400
Andrea – Just review books or in general? 138
Joy – I’ve read about a quarter of a Hobbit’s library worth of books. Okay so that’s about 40 books. I think. I’m not good with Hobbit math.
Kim – 3 or 4, so far

Is it just you reviewing or do you have a team of reviewers as well? (If you have a team, please feel free to mention them  )

As mentioned above, we are a team of reviewers. Currently there is Crystal Marie (Founder), Sara Squared (Unicorn expert), Angela (Who can multi-task like no tomorrow), Andrea (Who only reads M/M books. And I mean ONLY. If there is an F in there, she gets upset!), Michele (She reads mainly M/M books, but she can read the books if there is an F in there!), Joy (Our far away reviewer who travels over the UK and upsets authors because she lives in the UK and can’t post her reviews on Amazon US), and Kim (Who is our newest and sweetest reviewer!)

Who are some of your favorite authors that you’ve read?

Crystal – Leta Blake, Bailey Bradford, Janette Oke, Laura Ingalls Wilder

Sara – Kele Moon, Kresley Cole, Kristen Ashley, Aly Martinez to name a few…

Angela – Kristen Ashley, Erica Chilson, Cheryl Brooks, Laurann Dohner, Kindle Alexander, Lyn Gala, MQ Barber

Andrea – RJ Scotts, Lori Toland, Lyssa Samuels, Summer Dee,Summer Devon,MA Church,Mia Watts,Heather Boyd,Ashley John, Keira Andrews,A.E Via, Kade Boehme, Allison Cassatta, Felice Stevens, Vanessa Sims, Jessie G, Morticia Knight, Ava March,John Inman, Sara York, Damon Suede, River Jaymes, J.J Scotts, Sarah Granger, Lydia Gastrell and tons more.

Joy – Some of my favorite authors I’ve read are Molle McGregor, Jas T Ward, Kylie Scott, Lisa Henry, and J.A Rock.

Kim – Christi Snow, Mia Downing, Darynda Jones, Stacey Kennedy, Jill Shalvis

What’s your favorite book: (open to any of your reviewers)

1) as a child – The Long Winter by Laura Ingalls Wilder
2) as a teenager/young adult – A Woman Named Damaris by Janette Oke
3) right now – The River Leith by Leta Blake

1) as a child – The Monster At The End of This Book by Grover
2) as a teenager/young adult – Forever by Judy Blume
3) right now – Just finished “The Slayer” by Kele Moon…excellent! Loved every word and could not put it down.

1) as a child – Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
2) as a teenager/young adult – Historical Romances, especially those by Amanda Quick
3) right now – Anything by Kristen Ashley, but my fav by her is Lady Luck.

1) as a child – no idea… Really I don’t remember my childhood. Is there a brand called Sweet Pickles?
2) as a teenager/young adult – pretty sure I didn’t read. At all.
3) right now – Hot Head by Damon Suede.

1) as a child – Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
2) as a teenager/young adult – I devoured the Sweet Valley High Series! I remember having an entire box full of them, under my bed.
3) right now – I have two favorites. My absolute favorite m/m is Just Ask by Mia Downing. It’s so sensual and beautifully written. My absolute favorite book/series is the Charley Davidson Series by Darynda Jones. The heat between Charley and Reyes, along with the sarcasm, makes this series such a fun one to read over and over.

1) as a child – My favorite book as a child was The Secret Garden but around age 10 I started my descent into the science fiction and thriller genre and became a bit obsessed with Stephen King’s Firestarter.
2) as a teenager/young adult – As a teenager I was head over hills in love with Wuthering Heights and Tender is the Night. I guess my teenage angst had me attracted to stories involving dysfunctional love affairs.
3) right now – Right now anything by Seth Grahame-Smith. I love the way he combines the classics, history and the paranormal into some highly entertaining stories. I’m currently finishing up his book The Last American Vampire.
