Stupid Neanderthal #Backlist Monday #romance #paranormal #MondayBlogs

Happy Monday! The first Monday of the year. I thought I’d give you a look at Eclipse of Her Heart, which released in Fall 2013. I love this story.
In this snippet she’s just had a run in with a man who drove her a little crazy.

By the time she got back to the castle, she was in a bad mood and in no way was she going to go to the library. Instead, she went to her room and collapsed onto the bed. Who did he think he was treating her so badly? He wasn’t even supposed to be around. Should she tell Jennifer? Maybe he was pilfering something. Groaning, she glared at the ceiling. “Stupid Neanderthal.”
And why did he have to be a good looking Neanderthal? True, he wasn’t gorgeous, but he had a fantastic body and his eyes were amazingly attractive. His face held…she tried to think of what it was. There was a look there that distinctly told her he was used to being in control. She probably was a bit of a pain to him, not just accepting his word and walking away. But what was she to do? He knew the way out and she needed it. The jerk; tossing her across his shoulder like she was a sack of potatoes.
Groaning, she sat up. He was going to bug her. She needed to get her mind off him. As she went to stand up, her gaze turned to that nondescript painting above her bed. Her eyes bulged out and she stopped breathing for almost a full minute. The painting wasn’t just swathed in darkness. Now it was darkness surrounding two eyes. Two dark gray eyes that seemed to be watching her.
“Frak!” she squeaked. “I’m going crazy.”
A knock on her door was a welcome respite. “Come in!” she called quickly, turning, glad when Jennifer walked in.
“Are you all right, Seri? Marka said you hurt your ankle.”
That seemed like hours ago. “Yeah, I twisted it at the bottom of the stairs.”
“And then you went into the maze?” she asked in amusement. “Not the best thing to do, but you seemed to come out quickly enough.”
“Yeah, thanks to Neanderthal man,” she muttered under her breath before speaking in a normal tone of voice. “I think I need to do something. My brain is playing tricks on me.” She glanced up at the picture and the eyes still watched her.
