Josiah Jefferson left the polygamist community he grew up in to make a new home in Corbin’s Bend and to find the one woman he could love and spank for the rest of his life. He never expects to find her during his first week, but when a summer storm brings Lannea Paulsen, the town’s beloved sushi chef into his life, he sees it as fate and never looks back.
Lannea Paulsen, better known as Laney to everyone but the stubborn Josiah, has had two goals since she moved to Corbin’s Bend last year with her cousin. She wants to save enough money to buy half of The Ginger Paddle, the sushi resteraunt she runs with her cousin, Ginger, and to find a strong dominant man who is willing and ready to take her in hand in every way possible. The trouble is whenever she gets close to getting either of those things, she panics and finds some way to self- sabotage.
When Laney puts the business in jeopardy, Josiah comes to the rescue, and the two of them end up in a tumultuous platonic DD relationship. Both of them want more, but neither is willing to admit it. Will they settle for less than they desire or will they chase after everything they have ever wanted. When Laney is seconds away from everything she has ever wanted, will she panic and run away?
When you get together with friends do you have any food rituals- i.e. things you have at every get together with a certain friend? Or certain foods for certain occasions?
As a die-hard foodie- I have lots of such rituals. I love food and friends and no celebration is complete without the perfect combination of both. Every time I finish writing a story, I get together with a girlfriend and go to a local sushi bar. Another friend and I have to have banana daiquiris’ at our weekly get- together. Yet another group of friends pretty much demands a large bowl of this guacamole at every party.
¼ cup minced fresh cilantro leaves
I whole onion
1Tbsp minced garlic
¼ cup lime juice
I small tomato, finely diced
¼ tsp cumin
Peel, slice and mash avocados into a creamy paste. In food processor or blender, chop onion and cilantro. Add in lime juice and garlic and blend for one minute. Mix into avocado paste. Stir in tomato pieces. Add cumin, salt and pepper to taste. Serve with your favorite corn chips.
In my book, A Perfect Partnership, Laney and her cousin run Corbin’s Bend’s only sushi bar, The Ginger Paddle. The Ginger Paddle is a sushi restaurant that offers rolls themed around the spanko lifestyle embraced in Corbin’s Bend. Laney, her friend Terri and the other residents of Corbin’s Bend often theme their orders around their lives and what is going on in them. With sushi rolls having names like Orgasm, fantasy, naughty girl, and Sting Her, you can tell a lot about someone’s day just from what they choose to order.

She shook herself from her delicious daydream, to find that her panties had become damp with her arousal underneath her skirt, and to her embarrassment, she was in the kitchen at work, and Ginger was regarding her strangely.
“Um, Yes?,” she tried to act normal, but her mouth had gone dry, and her brain felt fuzzy.
“It’s Wednesday, and Teri is out front, waiting for you. Go take her order, and after you make it, take your lunch. You look like you could use the break anyway.”
Laney sighed in relief. Teri Simms was one of their regular customers, and the first friend Laney had made in Corbin’s Bend. She and Ginger had been so busy with the restaurant at first that there had been no time for socializing, or making friends with their new neighbors. Especially after Ginger had a miscarriage. Laney had been handling things all alone for a while afterwards. But Teri had been there at least twice a week, sometimes with her friend, and sometimes with her husband Roy. Teri was a bonified sushi addict who had moved from the city when she and her husband had gained custody of her nephew after the death of Teri’s twin sister Melinda and her husband, who had lived in Corbin’s Bend. Teri had been so ecstatic to see a sushi place in Corbin’s Bend, she had been there almost daily in the beginning, determined to try out everything on the menu, and with their mutual love for sushi, she and Laney had become fast friends. Now they had a standing sushi date every Wednesday on Laney’s lunch break.
Grateful for a reprieve from her cousin’s questioning gaze, she hurried out to the counter to greet her friend.
“Hey Teri, what can I get for you today?” Laney could feel that her face was still flushed, but she hoped her friend would assume that it was from working in the heat of the kitchen and not ask any questions.
Teri laughed easily. “Well, I was planning to get the Naughty Girl Roll, and an Orgasm Roll, but the way my day is going, I’m wondering if I shouldn’t switch to the Watch Your Mouth roll, and top it off with the That’s Gonna Sting Roll.”
“Wow, That bad?” Laney smiled. The outrageous spanking related names she had chosen made The Ginger Paddle the funnest sushi bar she had ever worked at. It made work just a little bit less work-like and certainly started some interesting conversations when people themed their orders around their lives, as most of them often did. “I can’t wait to hear all about it,” she told her friend. “In the meantime, how about we mix it up a bit, and get you a That’s Gonna Sting, along with an Orgasm Roll, and hope you get a little pleasure with your pain?”
“That sounds perfect! What are you going to have? The usual?”
“Uh, yeah, probably.” Laney muttered feeling the color creep into her cheeks once more. Her usual was a Fantasy Roll and an HOH Roll, and seemed more than appropriate for her current situation, besides being her favorite two on the menu.
Her heart pounded in her chest at the reminder, and she turned away quickly, hoping Teri would not see the pain and embarrassment she knew was etched on her face. Surely, the time it took to make four rolls would be just enough to get her face and her emotions under control to enjoy her time with her friend.
Rayanna Jamison is a happily married mother of two in her mid-thirties. She grew up in the PNW, but recently made a big life change and moved to the southwest. Part of that life change included getting back to her first love: writing.
Rayanna has been writing since she was able, and always dreamed of being an author growing up. She never thought she would write spanking romance, but she loves to read it, so why not?
When she is not writing, (which is much too often) Rayanna enjoys spending time with her family and dear friends, cooking, playing games, reading and exploring her new area.
Her favorite things in life besides her husband and kids are good friends, good food, and good wine. Her passions tend to be evident in the stories she writes.
