M is for Mannette today for the Spanking From A to Z Challenge.
Who or what is Mannette? Logan Mannette is one of the two heroes in my All They Ever Needed series. I gave you a snippet from Book 1: As Natural As Breathing a few days ago. Today, I’m giving you a little look into Book 2: Took My Breath Away.
Logan is on his way to visit his father’s family, people he has never met before. A normally easy-going man, he finds the prospect of meeting his grandparents overwhelming. Thankfully Christian is always willing to help lift his spirits.

When the driver’s door opened, Stodges slid in and turned toward him. “There is a full bar, and in the refrigerator there is a meal for you if you are hungry. It will be approximately ninety minutes to Mr. Matthias’ home.”
“Thanks.” With movements that told Logan he did this daily, Stodges quickly started the vehicle and began the drive through the airport. Shaking his head, as this all felt a little strange and rather amusing, he pulled out a bottle of imported lager and took a drink. Yum. He could get used to this. Remembering his promise, he pulled out his phone and turned it on, not surprised to see three text messages waiting for him from Christian.
How’s flying first class?
Are you there yet?
I miss you. Bring me back a pony.
Snorting at the last message, he responded.
Your legs would touch the ground on a pony.
Christian’s responding text came back so fast he knew he must have been waiting for it.
Then how about a trinket from the statue of liberty? And a pony.
Grinning, he hit speed dial.
“How was the flight?” Christian’s warm voice made him smile and he took another drink.
“Exhausting. I had eight leather recliners all to myself. I could’ve spent time in all of them, and the only one to know would have been my own personal stewardess.”
“Man, thirty days of this and you will be insufferable,” his boyfriend teased. “Has your uncle shown up yet?”
Looking around, Logan snickered. “He sent a limo for me.”
“Damn. Okay, I want two ponies.”
“Two?” Logan spluttered, accidentally spitting beer across the floor. “Shit!”
“I, uh, damn. Stodges? I accidentally spilled some beer. Is there anything to—”
“No worries, Master Logan. I will get it cleaned up.”
Logan shook his head again. The man’s voice did not even change, not to amusement or disdain.
“Master Logan?” Christian asked with barely concealed glee. “Do you have to wear knickerbockers and blazers too?”
Knowing his face was turning red, he changed the subject. “So why two ponies?”
“If they are too short to sit astride, then I can put one foot on each and ride them around like in a circus.”
Feeling a lot better with Christian’s teasing, Logan leaned back. “I miss you.”
“I miss you too, Gorgeous. My bed is awful big without you to share it with.”
Warmth filled him up. “I can’t believe it’s going to be a month ’til I see you again.”
“Ah, you will be so busy you won’t even notice,” Christian teased lightly. “I mean, you will have to take classes, I’m sure. Bossing Servants 101 and How to Lord It Over Everyone, Princeling 514.”
“Why 514?” Logan asked with a barely-concealed snort.
“It’s obviously an advanced skill and you are behind. Though if you showed them your spanking skills, they might get right in line.” There was a pause and then his voice deepened to the level it went to when he was aroused. “Never mind, don’t show them your spanking skills. That hand belongs to me.”

Sometimes taking control is what you need to do and sometimes the best thing you can do is give that control up.
In the summer between Logan’s junior and senior years of college, these two will find out more about each other and themselves than they imagined.
While unhappy to be missing four weeks of Christian’s company, Logan is thrilled to spend a month with his father’s relatives in New York. A naturally gregarious individual, he is used to winning people over and getting things right. Unfortunately, the Mannettes are not what he expects and for the first time in his life, he finds himself seriously doubting who he is.
Christian has regained some of his old self-esteem and is taking on new challenges. Besides growing in the relationship he has with Logan, he takes the time his boyfriend is away to learn more about domestic discipline. He learns a little online but it is actually Gregory, Logan’s father, where he gains most of his information. Including the fact that his natural strength puts him in a leadership position he isn’t expecting.
When Logan returns to a strong, self-assured Christian, it is with complete relief. As discussions turn to domestic discipline and they realize their true roles within their current and future relationship, both of them are able to let their inhibitions go and together their connection grows surprising Logan to an epiphany.
