Announcing the Red Band Erotica Collection

As I mentioned in a previous post, I want to help Erotica stand out from the porn that covers the internet. As with everything, this will take time to do so. Here is my first step.

As of today, I have launched (with my friend John Phillips) an idea: The Red Band Erotica Collection.

What is The Red Band Erotica Collection? Currently it is an idea that I hope grows to be a movement. The Red Band Erotica Collection is our idea for what Erotica should be.

Erotica has been around for a very long time and we have been graced with the good, the bad, and the ugly of it for years. My hope is with The Red Band Erotica Collection, we can raise the bar.

Where is the bar now? To be honest, there isn’t one. For one thing, many people don’t even seem to realize there is a difference between porn and erotica. Hint: There is a HUGE difference. Book stores (both online and traditional) place Erotic novels and porn in the same section because even publishers mark them all as erotica.

I love to read and write erotica and watch the best sellers list. Some good stuff gets on there and a lot of bad stuff gets on there. Now, I am not blaming anyone. I just think people are so hungry for something tantalizing that they will grab at the first thing they hear about.

Instead of letting them shoot in the dark, let’s give them an indication of what is good!

With the Red Band Erotica Collection, there will be no set publishers – the opportunity to be in the Red Band Erotica Collection will be open to all authors, both those who independently publish as well as those who are traditionally published. They will just need to apply and meet the criteria we set to proudly wear the Red Band Erotica Collection band on their book. There will be NO cost to the author. This is not something you can buy.

Who decides what the criteria are? There will be a panel to decide that: authors, editors, agents, critics; people who know writing and erotica. They will also have the final say on who gets to be in the collection.

What does an author get for having their book in the Red Band Erotica Collection? First and foremost, I hope a huge sense of pride. They will also be on the website that is being developed as I write this. All Red Band Erotica Collection books will be listed on that website.

Also, as the brand grows in recognition and readers begin to search out the Red Band Erotica Collection, they will gain an even larger audience. In time, I hope our books can top the best seller lists.

Well-written erotica with great story lines, fantastic sex scenes, and perfect formatting.

It is just the beginning, folks, in my mission to raise the Erotica bar.

Currently my soon-to-be-released story Twice as Nice: Anya’s Tale bares the Red Band Erotica Collection banner. Several people have praised it, so I elected to place it on there, but once the panel gets together and sets the criteria, they will also get the chance to read and judge my story. If they decide it isn’t Red Band Erotica Collection worthy, the band will come off.

Yes, I like the way I write, but I know I can write even better and I can’t wait to see how high the bar sits. Cause I am ready to make that leap and reach it.

My goal: To have all my books wear the Red Band Erotica Collection designation.

More information will be forthcoming over the next few days. Stay tuned.
