This year I have released a lot of books.
- Sizzling Attraction
- Ye Olde Kinke Faire
- Don’t Mess With His Pack
- A Shifter, a Fae, and a a Vampire Walk Into a Bar
- Making His Stand
- Knight in Shining Jaguar
- Light in the Dark Night
and there are 6 more that have been on the release list. That’s changing and here’s why.
There is a rumor going around the indie publishers that to truly be ‘out there’ you have to release a minimum of 1 book per month. I have everything written – including the 2 books I won’t be releasing, but I have hit the proverbial wall and am in severe burn out.
You see, writing a book and publishing it is a multi-step process and releasing one book per month is hell. I don’t even have the time to market a new release because I’m neck deep in making sure the next book is ready for release. I feel like I sent my babies off to life and then had to ignore each and every one of them.
But the worst is the burn out. I can’t write. I try but it’s just not working. And even the thought of another edit almost sends me screaming from the room. Since I’m beginning to hate what I do, it’s time to back off and change my plans. After all, this was a test and it definitely didn’t work.
So, besides the books that have already been released, the following will still be released this year:
- On the Edge of Fear (Full release date Aug 17, 2017)
- As Natural as Breathing (Full re-release date Sept 14, 2017)
- Took My Breath Away (Full re-release date Sept 14, 2017)
- Breathe Each Other In (Full re-release date Sept 14, 2017)
The following two books have been put off until next year so I can give them the attention they deserve.
- Her Captured Heart (Temp Release Date Nov 2018)
- Fan the Embers (Temp Release Date Mar 2018)
In 2018, I’m tentatively planning a release every other month, but I’ll know more in November. If all the drafts are done, I’ll attempt it. If they aren’t, then I’ll reconfigure my release calendar again 🙂
After the last releases are done, I’m focusing on some personal stuff and hope to work on some long, detailed books that are in the plans. Hopefully this purposeful vacation from publishing will help my muse and me feel better and we can be excited about writing again.
Stick with me–I will be quiet the last three months of this year, but I haven’t disappeared. Think of it as hibernation 😀
